intro
As you read this I will be reporting from Trimble Dimensions 2012 in sunny Las Vegas, Nevada. (Just for the record I voted via absentee ballot.) It will be my first time at this event and I am really looking forward to attending. Given the recent OEM deal with FARO and all of the other acquisitions that Trimble has been making it should be interesting to hear about their vision of the future for our industry.
Our thoughts are with all those who have been impacted by super storm Sandy. Let's hope that this was a once in a lifetime event as some described. It is certain to create construction activity, but there are better ways for that...
The following week I will be attending Bentley Systems Be Inspired Conference in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Bentley selects their best customer projects for showcasing at this event. Stay tuned for a recap of both events.
Best regards,
Gene Roe, LS, PE, PhD

LiDAR QA/QC
Last month, I posted an article for LiDAR News that focused on Quality Control of different types of LiDAR data. I wanted to delve a bit deeper into the airborne LiDAR quality control discussion. This article will pick up where we left off and provide some more detail into what needs to be checked and how this can be accomplished. Most LiDAR specifications detail the data collection, processing and delivery formats, which makes it easy to ...
