intro
I attended a TRB workshop this past week on TransXML. It further reinforced the challenges associated with developing and adopting data standards. This effort began 10 years ago and unfortunately there is not very much to show for it. There has to be industry and end user financial support in order to get this work done. That is why the Open Geospatial Consortium deserves tremendous credit for the business model they developed and are sustaining. The transportation industry deserves better, or at least needs better.
Are you feeling the competitive pressure? Be sure to read the spotlight article for important words of wisdom from industry veteran Arik Degani.
Remember you can choose to receive either a digital or hard copy of the LiDAR Magazine on the website and encourage your colleagues to sign up for this eNewsletter HERE. We thank you for your ongoing support in building this professional community.

We expected rapid equipment price reductions would make this technology affordable for most surveyors. We believed we ...
