intro
The first major conference of the year, ILMF 2014 was a success with 30 countries represented and over 50 exhibitors. The two hot topics of late have been Google's announcement of Project Tango?the 3D smart phone?and Time Scanners, which is a National Geographic series featuring 3D laser scanning.
As we all know, education is something that our industry is struggling with. One new venture recently launched by geospatial industry veteran Joe Paiva is GeoLearn. There are modules on state plane coordinates and error analysis that look very interesting, with more to come. Good luck Joe.

The FARO X330 Goes Mobile : Jeff Fagerman ? In 2009 if you were searching for a static laser scanner it would have been very likely that you would have searched and never found FARO. Although they have been providing systems for quite some time they were not a major player. The PHOTON system was not much different than any other system on the market. They were ...

The Tradeshow Dilemma: Bill Gutelius - I have been on both sides of the booth ? sometimes simultaneously, at tradeshows and conferences. It has been my experience that they consistently afforded me an opportunity to learn a lot, develop business relationships (?network?) and to acquire new business ? no matter whether as an attendee or an exhibitor or even as BOTH ...
Joe Croser
Disruption is Good When Innovating: Joe Croser ? For most people 'disruption' is an unwelcome thing. Bad weather disrupts air travel and naughty children disrupt classrooms. But there are some disruptions that are, for the most part, positive and welcome. Thought leaders and academics tend to think of these as disruptive innovations. If you work in the high-tech ...
