intro
The second major conference of the year, ASPRS 2014 will be taking place next week in Louisville, Kentucky March 23 - 28. Rich Bremer from LiDAR News will be attending. As I have mentioned, Michael Hauck is the new Executive Director of ASPRS (American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing). I hope that all of us in the LiDAR industry will take this as an opportunity to actively support this important professional organization.
I trust that you saw this week's announcement concerning the debut of the LiDAR News Webinar Series. The first one, titled "Making Money with the Speed of Light", will take place on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 1 PM EDT. Industry veteran Ken Smerz, President/CEO of Eco3D, will be the presenter. You can register here. If you have an interest in sponsoring a webinar please let me know.
Remember, you can choose to receive either a digital or hard copy of the LiDAR Magazine on the website and encourage your colleagues to sign up for this eNewsletter HERE. We thank you for your ongoing support in building this professional community and if you have an idea for an article please let me know.

When I started in the commercial LiDAR industry in 1996, the company I worked for had a 5Khz LiDAR sensor. Now we routinely use sensors capable of collecting at rates for 500Khz. It should be noted that just because a company has a 500Khz sensor doesn?t mean the sensor will be operated at that ...

The Right Technology, Right Tools, and Right Sequence: Jason Amadori ? We are seeing many agencies jumping on the LiDAR train and for good reason ? why not go out, collect everything in the right- of-way at high precision and then go and exploit this data as much as possible? This is a great idea in theory, but in practice the value of this information can only be ...
